Deutsch Size 12, 10 and 8 solid contacts, as well as Harting Han C/D/E turned contacts.

If the handles get stuck during crimping, activate the emergency quick-release lever inside the handle to release the ratchet mechanism and open the tool.

• HD-0812D (Upper Range): For AWG 12–8 wires and larger Deutsch contacts, including Size 12, 10 and 8.
• HD-2612D (Standard Range): For AWG 26–12 wires and standard miniature Deutsch contacts, including Size 20, 16 and 12.

Tip: Size 12 contacts overlap between the two tools. Choose HD-0812D when your application includes larger wire sizes such as AWG 10 or 8.

Strip the wire according to the terminal manufacturer's recommended strip length. As a general reference, the required strip length is typically around 6.5–8.0 mm (approximately 1/4–5/16 inch) for 12–8 AWG terminals.

Crimping AWG 8 terminals requires higher hand force due to the larger wire and terminal size. The tool's high-leverage design helps reduce the required effort. For AWG 8 applications, using both hands may provide better control and reduce hand fatigue. For high-volume work, the tool can also be secured in a bench vise if appropriate.
